Role summary
Own the engineering strategy and delivery for Collins Aerospace's passenger identity products (biometric verification and clearance across kiosk, bag-drop, security, and boarding). You'll lead a multi-disciplinary team to build scalable, secure, low-latency solutions that integrate seamlessly with airport and airline systems worldwide.
Key responsibilities
Strategy & roadmap: Define and execute the engineering roadmap for the biometric identity product line—cloud architecture, face/iris modules, enrollment workflows, and integrations across the airport journey.
Technical leadership: Make architecture decisions that meet targets for scalability, reliability, security, and sub-second (
Team leadership: Hire, mentor, and grow software, AI/ML, cloud, embedded/hardware, systems integration, and test engineers; create a high-ownership, delivery-driven culture.
SDLC ownership: Run requirements, design, development, V&V, deployment, and lifecycle maintenance with strong metrics and change control.
Cross-functional partnership: Translate market and customer needs with Product, UX, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success into clear, testable deliverables.
Ecosystem integration: Ensure robust integration with DCS/PSS, CUPPS/v MUSE/CUSS, self-service bag-drop, security gates, and e-gates/boarding gates.
Cloud & global scale: Implement and operate cloud-native infrastructure (preferably AWS) for multi-tenant, multi-airline, multi-region deployments and localization.
Quality & Dev Sec Ops: Establish CI/CD, test automation, observability, SLOs/SLAs, and certification readiness; enforce Dev Sec Ops and secure SDLC practices.
Security & privacy: Partner with cybersecurity, identity/privacy, and data governance to ensure regulatory compliance, secure template storage, auditability, and risk mitigation.
Commercial enablement: Manage budget, resource planning, and partner/vendor relationships (sensors, biometric SDKs); support bids, proposals, trials, and customer deployments. Required qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Electrical/Systems Engineering, or related field; MBA a plus.
8+ years delivering complex software/hardware or identity systems; 3–5+ years leading engineering teams and programs.
Hands-on experience with cloud-native architecture (AWS preferred), identity management, and biometrics (face/iris/fingerprint) or adjacent CV/digital identity domains.
Proven record integrating hardware + software (sensors, embedded, and back-end services) at scale in aviation, airport, security, or other high-reliability environments.
Deep familiarity with CI/CD, Dev Sec Ops, automation, agile delivery, and KPI-driven execution.
Strong systems thinking across software, hardware, networks, and airport/airline operations.
Excellent leadership and stakeholder skills; credible with C-level customer audiences.
Willingness to travel to airport sites, customer labs, and industry events.
Preferred qualifications
Domain experience in airport passenger processing (CUPPS, CUSS, DCS, gates).
Knowledge of biometric/identity standards (ICAO, IATA, ISO).
Global deployment expertise (multi-region cloud, multi-tenant, localization).
Experience with face/iris media pipelines and ML/AI verification workflows.
Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks for airports/critical infrastructure.
