This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced professionals in logistics, art crating, or woodworking to apply their craftsmanship in a highly specialised environment.
The role involves constructing bespoke wooden crates to protect valuable artwork and museum objects during transport. This hands-on position requires precision, attention to detail, and expertise in woodworking, machining, and protective packaging design. Relocation support and visa sponsorship are available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Construct high-quality custom crates tailored to specific artwork and museum objects.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and job sheets to ensure precision.
- Design and adapt crating structures to provide optimal protection against pressure and handling risks.
- Operate woodworking machinery, including routers, saws, and planers.
- Fit and secure crate components, support structures, and mounting materials.
- Ensure compliance with industry and safety standards during crating and packing processes.
- Collaborate with teams to determine appropriate materials for crate construction.
- Handle delicate and high-value items with extreme care.
- Maintain workshop tools and equipment in proper working condition.
- Assist in packing, handling, and installation of museum objects and artwork.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in art crating, woodworking, or fine art logistics.
- Proven expertise in handling, packing, and installing museum objects and artwork.
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual tasks, including lifting and assembly.
- Skilled in using woodworking and machining equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings with accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of safety regulations in a manufacturing environment.
- Must have a clear police record for visa purposes.
