Test & Commissioning Engineer: HV private Networks
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Test and Commissioning Engineer to join a specialist team delivering high-voltage (HV) electrical infrastructure projects. This role focuses on the testing and commissioning of private networks up to 11k V, ensuring systems are installed, tested, and operating to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct testing and commissioning of HV private networks up to 11k V.
- Perform primary and secondary injection testing on switchgear, transformers, and protection systems.
- Carry out fault-finding, diagnostics, and troubleshooting on electrical networks.
- Ensure all commissioning activities comply with safety regulations, technical standards, and client specifications.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Prepare and submit detailed test reports and commissioning documentation.
- Ensure compliance with BS7671, G99, and other relevant regulations.
- Promote a strong health and safety culture on-site.
Experience & Skills:
- Proven experience in testing and commissioning of high-voltage electrical systems (up to 11k V).
- Strong knowledge of HV switchgear, transformers, protection relays, and SCADA systems.
- Experience using relay testing equipment (Omicron, Megger, or similar).
- Understanding of private network design, earthing, and protection schemes.
- Familiarity with DNO (Distribution Network Operator) and IDNO requirements is advantageous.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and protection schemes.
Qualifications:
- Electrical Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) or equivalent.
- Authorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) qualification (preferred).
- ECS/CSCS Card (or willingness to obtain).
- G99/G100 knowledge (desirable).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
