Just-Eat’s mission is to make consumers’ lives easier by enabling them to “Order Takeaway. The Smart Way.” Just-Eat Group operates in 8 countries, has 10,000+ restaurants online and, every month, over 2m takeaway meals are bought through our sites. Christian Frismodt got the idea to Just-Eat in 1998. In 2001 the company merged with FoodZoom and launched the site in Denmark where it rapidly became the undisputed market leader lead by co-founder Jesper Buch. In 2005 the SM Trust bought a majority share in Just-Eat and helped to drive international development. Just-Eat.co.uk launched in the UK in March 2006 and has rapidly become the UK market leader, growing at an unprecedented rate. In the autumn of 2007 Just-Eat partnered with the Dutch company Hapgids to form Just-Eat.nl. In early 2008, CEO and co-founder Jesper Buch decided that it was time for him to enter a new phase of his life, and he moved to Spain to work as an angel investor. Klaus Nyengaard joined Just-Eat in summer 2008 as the new CEO responsible for taking the ambitions of Just-Eat to the next stage. This ambition led to a successful £10.5m fundraising in July 2009 led by Index Ventures and representing the largest investment ever in online takeaway. Launches in 2008 in Sweden and Ireland saw Just-Eat further expand its territories whilst the scale and potential of the UK market meant that in 2008 the Group HQ (www.just-eat.com) moved from Denmark to the new Just-Eat offices in London. 2009 has seen further expansion within both new and existing territories. Belgium in May, Canada in August, and Norway in December, further cementing Just-Eat’s international leadership. In the same year, Just-Eat .se merged with two other online takeaway businesses to form the dominant Swedish company, OnlinePizza AB. Just-Eat is controlled by Index Ventures and the SM Trust with other investors including management, Venrex and a number of private individuals. Specialties pizza, food, online ordering, take away, takeaway, delivery, indian, chinese, sushi, thai
