Role - Design Engineer Location - Manchester Area Salary - £40,000 - £50,000 Role Overview As the Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of both standard and bespoke containment and clean air equipment for the highly regulated medical and pharmaceutical industries.
This role requires close collaboration with our engineering and sales teams to develop mechanical designs and create detailed drawings of machinery that meet industry standards.
Key Responsibilities Design standard and bespoke containment, aseptic, and sterile applications.
Collaborate with the Sales Team to provide concept design solutions during quotation and tender processes.
Work closely with the Engineering Team to develop new products and enhance existing designs.
Create Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Drive best practices in Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
Produce General Arrangement drawings, detailed manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials from scratch.
Ensure compliance of product designs with regulatory standards such as EU GMP and ISO14644.
Qualifications and Skills Proven experience as a mechanical design engineer, with at least 3 years in the medical and pharmaceutical industries.
Expertise in aseptic processes and containment device design.
Experience in taking projects from concept to final detail design.
Proficiency in Solidworks 3 D and Auto CAD 2 D.
Ability to create process and pneumatic diagrams.
Knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication.
Strong ability to build lasting customer relationships.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to effectively plan, schedule, and coordinate tasks.
Self-motivated with a results-driven approach.
Creative and innovative mindset, with the ability to propose new ideas and improvements to existing processes and products.
Preferred Qualifications Degree in Mechanical Engineering or minimum HNC level with relevant industry experience.
