Description The Community and Family Services Coordinator provides holistic leadership to a limited range of community-based programs in accordance with Salvation Army mission, values and standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent is responsible for the following range of job duties characteristic, or typical of the job class: Serves actively as a member of the management team for the Corps/Centre Ensures that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example Gives oversight to community ministries programs, ensuring ministry objectives are consistently accomplished and that a spiritual focus is applied to all program initiatives (which may include Thrift Store Operations).

Connects those who are looking for spiritual counsel with the Corps Officers or the appropriate spiritual representative in hopes that a link with the wider Body will be fostered (including linking clients to the church family and church programs where possible).

Provides intake services, client assessment, emergency assistance and short-term spiritual counselling for clients Works in conjunction with the Pathway of Hope Caseworker to identify potential clients as well as to receive and resource clients from the Pathway of Hope.

Carries out / oversees foodbank operations, including coordination of resources and volunteers.

Develops strategies and recommendations for staff and volunteer development, handles recruitment, orientation and performance management.

Assists the Corps Officer with ongoing strategic planning to ensure programming reflects client needs as these may evolve in our changing socioeconomic climate Provides input into the preparation of an operating budget for the community ministries programs and monitors/manages financial performance accordingly Provides input in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for Community Ministries programs Works with the Corps Officer to ensure that programs meet contractual, legal and internal accreditation requirements Networks with Salvation Army, government and community social service providers to coordinate resources for the benefit of clients and program, acting as an advocate when appropriate.

May engage and implement a local Emergency Response Plan, assisting with provincial/federal emergencies as required May coordinate/organize annual donation and fund raising efforts and/or special or seasonal programs (Red Shield Appeal, Christmas Kettle Campaign, Food Drives, Donation Drives, Christmas Hamper, Toy Distribution, Summer Camps, Community Dinners, etc.)May provide visibility for The Salvation Army within the community through service club participation, media relations, general public relations, etc.

Performs other duties as assigned NOTE: Not all incumbents perform all of the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL ATTAINED: The successful job applicant will have completed up to two (2) years of Community College.

NOTE: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.

SPECIAL LICENSES, DIPLOMAS, CERTIFICATIONS OR REQUIREMENTS: The successful applicant will hold/have: Current Certification in First Aid/CPR**See Precautionary Measures** MINIMUM PRIOR RELATED EXPERIENCE: The incumbent must have the following experience before hire: One year but less than three years of prior related experience, including, experience in a variety of social service programs, with some supervisory experience, and experience communicating orally and in writing.

PHYSICAL EFFORT/DEXTERITY REQUIRED: The performance of the job requires a moderate amount of computer work, occasionally loading/unloading the truck, intervening in physical confrontations, and lifting/moving equipment more than 20 pounds.

CONCENTRATION REQUIRED: The performance of the job requires attentive listening (supervision, counselling, conflict resolution, etc.), and moderate attention when doing computer work.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR FINANCIAL RESOURCES: The incumbent’s responsibility for Financial Resources: The incumbent has input to and/or participates in preparing budgets with respect to the departmental budget.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR HUMAN RESOURCES: The incumbent’s responsibility for Human Resources: The incumbent is responsible for the direct supervision of non-supervisory personnel.

Incumbent has input into discipline, hiring or firing decisions or provides advice and guidance within the established guidelines.

The incumbent directly may supervise employees, and/or volunteers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The incumbent’s work environment is typically in an office, in a store, in the community, at a church, at emergency situations and/or in a warehouse.

The incumbent will work under the following disagreeable conditions: Dealing with angry and abusive people Verbal abuse Work schedule affecting lifestyle The incumbent may have little to no travel required.

EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS: The job incumbent may be exposed to the risk of minor to moderate injury or illnesses due to: Physical attacks by others (e.g.

violent/aggressive client acting out physically)Exposure to infectious diseases Moving objects Sharp objects Emergency response situations (fire, bomb threat, etc.)Other potentially dangerous situations PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: The incumbent must take the following precautionary measures (in addition to health and safety rules): Universal Precautions Food Safe Training Non-violent crisis intervention training Hours: 28 hours per week – Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 4:00pm – ½ hour unpaid lunch Interested applicants must respond in writing by March 1st, 2024 to: Hiring Committee
