What do we offer?

We have offices in London and Bristol with access to co-working space across the UK. We offer the opportunity to work remotely within the UK (role, business and client dependent) with support for your home office setup if required. Regular all-company away days and other meetings are mandatory.

For this role, the role holder will be expected to work from our brand new office in London (near Bank station) 2 - 3 days per week, or be spending time face to face with our clients 2 - 3 days per week.

Principal Data Engineer responsible for evolving a Kafka-based Data Enrichment Engine processing tens of thousands of transactions per second
Technical leadership bridging software engineering and scalable cloud infrastructure
Experience leading design and development of large-scale data systems from scratch
Expert-level, hands-on experience with Apache Kafka in high-throughput production environments
Experience designing, managing, and running relational databases at a terabyte scale
Deep knowledge of Apache Spark, Big Query or AWS Athena and related data processing concepts
Strong software engineering fundamentals with backend proficiency (Java Script/Node.js preferred)
Experience building solutions on major public clouds (GCP, AWS, or Azure) with cost estimation
Autonomous problem-solver with end-to-end ownership What You’ll Work On
Evolve a Mission-Critical System: Take technical ownership of our Kafka-based Data Enrichment Engine, a platform that runs multiple analytical models at 20,000+ transactions per second
Architect for Scale: Design and implement architectural improvements for performance, reliability, and scalability across Saa S and client-deployed environments
Solve Complex Engineering Challenges: High-throughput data ingestion, distributed systems, data consistency, and operational efficiency in production
SME and Mentorship: Guide engineers and establish best practices for large-scale data systems Ideal Candidate
