The project: Mace is the delivery partner for Heathrow across several programmes: The Commercial Programme aims to give passengers the best airport service in the world whilst protecting existing revenue and unlocking additional revenue sources. The Asset Management and Compliance (AMC) programme maintains physical and technological assets, keeping colleagues and consumers safe and secure, keeping critical functions operational and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Efficient Airport Programme (EAP) is to improve Heathrow's resilience, efficiency & service standards to provide more predictable and reliable journeys while delivering operational productivity and capacity optimisation. Due to the strong pipeline, several projects within these programmes require resources with different backgrounds (MEP and Architectural, preferred). You will possess technical expertise in local health and safety rules and regulations relevant to the project portfolio. Client focus - Deliver on our promise: You will guide daily activities of the team of design management resources for project/s. You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of design management to deliver key strategic outcomes & sub-function KPIs, directly influencing strategic development. You will be a point of contact for client design issues, ensuring relationships are managed and maintained. Review tender documentation and identify project risks. Assisting the design team through the RIBA 2 to 4 design stage (generally) and the delivery team through into implementation and handover. Demonstrate design management procedures, review programmes and set design deliverables. Attend/chair design coordination team meetings as necessary during the contract, maintaining minutes, and ensuring the design risk register is maintained by the P. D. Oversee identification of constraints via a clash detection exercise and manage the resolution through design solution or identification of concession. Ensure compliance with relevant legislative and client standards. Facilitate the process of raising and agreeing concessions with stakeholders for derogations from ERs. Manage engagement with Building Control and CDM and Building Regulations processes related to Mace's Principal Designer role. Monitor and report on design progress, statutory approvals (building control and baggage operations authority), outstanding information required, subcontractor design, environmental/CDM issues. Develop and agree design input/output responsibilities between consultants and subcontractors with design responsibilities. Monitor progress and status of RFIs and document control. Integrity - Always do the right thing: You will manage the implementation of design management systems, processes and protocols to meet statutory, legal, and contractual requirements. You will support the long-term development of strategy for a function or business unit (BU), creating a sustainable business future. You will use your network to support business development and work winning activities. You'll need to have: A good understanding of the full design and construction process. Ability to achieve full membership of a relevant professional body is required, and ideally you have it already. Df MA or MMC experience would be valued. Aviation experience is preferred. Experience in the Principal Designer role under CDM and Building Regulations is desirable, awareness of the duties is required. You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and lead strong, motivated teams. Experience with BIM 360 or ACC is appreciated. You will have a construction or project management background and be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace has to offer.
