The Scottish Government’s ‘Women’s Health Plan (2021) brought much needed focus on addressing the health needs of women across Scotland, aiming to reduce health inequalities and focus on key priority areas such as reproductive health, menopause and abortion services.
Coupled with ‘Best Start –a 5 year foreplan for maternity and neonatal care’, there has never been a more exciting time to develop a career in Women’s health services.
The Pharmacist role within Women’s health is continually developing, and many exciting opportunities for advancing practice are regularly being presented. The role of the Pharmacist within the Women’s Health MDT is crucial to the timely access and active management of new therapies addressing women’s health issues. In addition the Pharmacist plays a crucial more holistic role in addressing Women’s health needs through support of person-centred quality improvement approaches to delivering care in new or novel settings.
NHS GGC is a leader in the delivery of Women’s health strategy. This post will provide Pharmacy leadership to Women’s services across NHS GGC, under the direction and support of the Lead Clinical Pharmacist for Women and Children’s Services. The post holder will deputise for the LCP W&C and will work with the wider MDT to develop a strategy for pharmacy services to Women’s health for the future. In addition, the post holder will provide clinical service to the Level 2 neonatal units where required, and offer professional support and leadership as the site lead at the Princess Royal Maternity Hospital.
You will need to be confident, enthusiastic and have a drive for personal-professional development. You must have excellent communication and leadership skills as there will be a requirement to actively participate in service development at local and national level.
Demonstrable experience of change management, and a desire to drive Pharmacy services forward in line with National strategy, is essential to the role.
You must have a Master’s Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. A postgraduate qualification and Independent Prescribing qualification is essential.
Working pattern is Monday to Friday with participation in weekend working, public holidays and on call.
