About the Basic Package of Support (BPS)Life after school can be a very challenging time. Lots of young people are unsure what paths to take, and how to achieve their goals. The BPS is a programme designed to support young people going through this transition. The BPS is unique because it provides ongoing, one-on-one coaching support to help young people develop and reach their goals. Youth Coaches work directly with young people to create action plans and connect them to the relevant resources and services that are sometimes hard to reach. Youth Coaches are there to support young people in creating their own path, and to walk alongside them towards their future goals.All Youth Coach’s will be supervised and supported by a Youth Coach Guide.Applications are invited from interested persons, who meet the minimum requirements, to fill the above-mentioned position of Youth coach guide in Orange Farm, Gauteng.POSITION PURPOSETo oversee, provide support and guidance to NEET (not in employment, education or training) youth in line with the BPS programme KEY OUTPUTSProvide support and guidance to NEET youth in line with the BPS programmeSupport the mobilisers with recruitment of young NEETs onto the BPS programmeStoring and management of client informationQuality implementation of the BPS tools and processes, to:Assess a young person’s current barriers to opportunitiesSupport in the identification of goals, and the development of action plansTrack progress against action plansConduct and track referrals to various servicesProvide ongoing support and follow-upEstablish and maintain a directory of quality referral services and resourcesKeep updated with future career trends and opportunities available to young NEETsSupport the young NEETs to use partner platforms to identify and connect to opportunitiesCommunication with clients’ parents or primary caregivers, where relevantParticipation in the Community of PracticeSupport the ongoing learning and development of Youth Coaches to enable quality delivery of the BPS programmeOversee the NACCW aspects of the implementation of the BPS to NEET youthCommunicate effectively with youthDemonstrate ethical and professional behaviourManage diversityDisplay strong leadership and management skillsUse career information effectively for NEET youth.Advance the employability of youthAdvance the professional development of youth coaches.Facilitate non-standardised self-exploration career assessments.Demonstrate empathy.Demonstrate optimism.Use creativity when solving problemsDisplay good time management;Have computer skills at intermediate levelOrganisation and plan meetings,Support the Site manager to manage stakeholder relationsPlan diaries for youth coaches and self;Promote and uphold the rights of children and youth;Apply personal development strategies and skills to enhance effective service deliveryDemonstrate strong interpersonal skills with youth, and their families;Identify and analyse grassroot project needs & communicate it with the management and research teamProvides support to youth coaches, mobilisers and project personnel in times of crisis Stakeholder RelationsSupports the site manager in representing the project at local and sub-district stakeholder meetingsConsults with relevant stakeholders internal and/or externalAdvocates for the project in various contexts AdministrationAdheres to SOP’sOversees data capture of youth coaches in an online case management system.Report writingConduct Youth Coach meetingsSupport and monitor implementation of target schedulePlans diary and monthly activity schedule for self and Youth CoachesAttend Site team meetings.COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ATTRIBUTES) REQUIRED INTER ALIAFETC: Child and Youth Care Work or a Diploma in Child and Youth DevelopmentIf FETC only, studying towards a related qualification is essentialMust be registered with SACSSP3-5 years of experience as a Child and Youth Care Worker1-2 years of experience as a Senior Child and Youth Care Worker, leading a team of CYCWs.Intermediate computer skills and ability to work across various technology platformsExperience working in youth development programmes for young NEETs (advantageous)Experience delivering work-readiness training, or career guidance to young people (advantageous)Willingness to travelA valid driver’s license and have driving experience is essentialTo ApplyPlease send a 1-page motivation, and a brief CV to, with the position you are applying on the subject line.For the Communications Lead position, please send an example of a previous communications product.Closing date March 3Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 2 weeks of the closing date.
