Located in Runcorn, United Kingdom, our newly extended 120,000 sq. ft. facility is a fully integrated site offering comprehensive manufacturing, repair, and overhaul services to the major players in the landing gear industry. Designated as a Center of Excellence, the facility specializes in surface treatment and assembly of small to medium-sized landing gear systems. As a key part of the Centre of Division, the facility supports several global programs, including: Gripen – SAAB, Hawk - BAE Systems, KF21 - Hanwha Aerospace, AW101 - Leonardo Helicopters.

With a strong focus on cutting-edge technology, advanced manufacturing processes, and lean techniques, we are committed to delivering high-value, precision-engineered components for complex landing gear systems.

Summary of position:

As a Machine Shop Honer, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC and conventional vertical honing machines to finish internal surfaces of aerospace components such as pistons, cylinders, links, and barrels. You will ensure all work meets precise engineering specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Interpret job packs and supervisor instructions to determine dimensions, tolerances, and quantity requirements.
Select appropriate feed rates, honing speeds, depths of cut, and tooling based on the operation and material.
Operate honing machines to achieve required surface finishes and dimensional accuracy.
Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments such as dial bore gauges and borematics.
Utilize specialized surface finish inspection equipment as needed.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment and adhere to production schedules.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Completion of trade school, vocational training, or apprenticeship in a relevant field.
2–4 years of experience in a machining or honing environment.

Skills & Abilities

Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and manufacturing sketches.
Skilled in using inspection tools and understanding quality control standards.
Strong command of English (spoken and written).
Physically fit and capable of handling heavy loads.
Solid understanding of arithmetic involving decimals and fractions for measurement and calculation tasks.
Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
