My client are a Private School with a fantastic reputation located Hertfordshire.

Servicing families from the local area, they are purposefully small to create a friendly and family atmosphere for their students.

An opportunity to join the team has arisen for an ICT Technician.

The purpose of the role is to provide IT services including supporting users, troubleshooting of IT related services, maintaining network infrastructure equipment and services, securing school data and maintenance of IT equipment across the school.

Main duties and responsibilities Configuring, troubleshooting, upgrading and maintaining IT equipment and devices, systems, network infrastructure, software applications and services for users including staff, pupils, governors and visitors IT projects including roll-out of new hardware, software, network infrastructure and updates perform the first layer of troubleshooting for any ICT issues experienced by the school and respond to ‘help tickets’ raised by both staff and pupils liaise with our external ICT support provider and collaborate in the running of the school network including back up checks, web filtering management, wireless software management and error resolution liaise with the SLT and the Head of ICT to help implement an ICT Development Plan if/when changes are necessary.

help maintain our management information-system (MIS) database software (such as i SAMS) by liaising with staff to perform basic activities such as adding user accounts, creating and printing reports, and troubleshooting problems.

oversee the introduction of the new cloud-based telephony system staff members on software and hardware within the school application and software documentation, such as user guides, to assist the end user.

responsible for the Whole School User Directory as well as Microsoft Admin Services.

with SLT and HODs in relation to budgeting queries.

with external companies for all hardware related issues.

the WAPs using software provided by Netgear and other external companies Impero and Fortiguard in relation to the school’s online safeguarding procedure.

our ‘new user’ and ‘leaver’ process to make sure procedures are followed respond to ‘Help Tickets’ raised by both staff and pupils.

offer solutions and perform the repair for all staff and pupils.

any suitable jobs to the service group and/or a vendor to complete the repair.

specialised CPD training opportunities to learn how to use and train others to use new equipment.

reports on internet usage on request.

Person Specification and able to work under pressure, sometimes outside of regular hours.

communication skills in order to help teach employees technical information.

broad general technical knowledge and the ability to research new technology and troubleshooting methods.

understanding of a school network and infrastructure ideal.

of the following applications would be desirable: i SAMS, Inventry, EVERY, PASS, SOCS, Office 365 and Impero as well as all subject based software such as Atom Learning, My Maths when necessary.

Hours of Work 40 hours per week.

The role is for 38 weeks per year which covers term time and up to five weeks during the school holidays.

There is some flexibility over work during holiday periods such that much of the holiday working could be accommodated, if required, during those periods which coincide with the local state schools still being in session.

The possibility of working from home during these periods could also be discussed based on the nature of the tasks.
