Role : Pool Attendant
Location: Girton Green, Wellbrook Way, Girton, Cambridge CB3 0 GQ
Hourly Rate: £12.30
Contract: Permanent
Work Pattern: Flexible 25 Hours per week.
The role of Poolside Attendant
To ensure the effective, safe, and customer focused operation of the facility’s leisure amenities, including the swimming pool and fitness suite. The role is responsible for maintaining high safety standards promoting health and wellbeing activities and providing a quality service to residents and guests.
Ensure the safe operation of the swimming pool and fitness suite at all times.
Deliver excellent customer service to users of the leisure facilities.
Maintain full compliance with health and safety regulations and operational policies.
Conduct and record regular safety checks on the pool plant and gym equipment.
Co-ordinate and support the delivery of fitness sessions, including group and one -to-one instruction.
Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the pool and leisure areas.
Liaise with maintenance and property teams to ensure timely resolution of facility issues.
Promote healthy lifestyles through fitness guidance and class promotion.
Support the development of the leisure offer in line with community needs.
Contribute to emergency action procedures and be prepared to act appropriately in any emergency.
Support the organisation of events or community activities within the facility.
Undertake any relevant training and maintain necessary certifications.
National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) – must be current and maintained.
Emergency First Aid at Work or First Aid at Work certification – current and maintained.
Pool Plant Operator certificate, or willingness to complete within 3 months of appointment.
Strong understanding of health and safety in leisure settings, including pool water testing and equipment maintenance.
Familiarity with gym equipment and safe exercise practices.
Ability to respond effectively to emergencies and enforce safety rules.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Experience working in a leisure or fitness facility.
Experience dealing with the public in a customer-facing environment.
Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing or equivalent.
Experience delivering group fitness classes or personal training sessions.
Knowledge of safeguarding policies and working with vulnerable people.
Additional qualifications in aqua fitness, yoga, spin, or other specialist classes.
