The Highway Development Team at Halton plays a crucial role in shaping new development, safeguarding highway safety, and promoting active, sustainable, and inclusive travel. The Role As a Principal Engineer, you'll collaborate closely with other services within the Highways Division and the wider Council to drive service improvements, efficiencies, and embrace new technologies and best practices. What You'll Be Doing: Handling highway responses to local land searches. Managing the naming and numbering of streets in new developments. Using legal powers to remove highway obstructions and contacting landowners. Providing development advice for planning applications and regeneration proposals related to highways and transport. Developing traffic surveys and schemes, including active travel infrastructure. Key Skills and Qualifications: BTEC ONC/OND or equivalent (or higher) in an Engineering or Transportation related discipline relevant to the post. Excellent communication skills and technical aptitude. Knowledge of relevant legislation, including statutory Highways Act functions. Experience in the development management process.
