We are looking for hard working and dynamic individuals to come aboard and be a part of the next generation of the Zodiac Maritime team Position: Vetting Superintendent Reporting to: Head of Vetting & Marine Assurance Contract type: Permanent Overview of role You will be responsible for coordinating the compliance of managed tanker and gas vessels in line with oil companies vetting requirements.
Key responsibilities and primary deliverables Vetting Working closely with Operations and Commercial teams to provide requisite questionnaires, Q88 updates, and subsidiary documents/questionnaires for pre-fixture.
Coordinate with Technical Assistants and vessels to ensure documents/information is timely relayed.
Provide requisite documents and guidance to vessel for prospective PSC, Terminal, or 3rd party inspections, to ensure being suitably prepared for planned inspection.
Assist in booking and execution of SIRE/CDI inspection programme, basis the vessel’s itinerary.
Liaise with the vessel, agents, and inspecting company (where required) to ensure planned 3rd party inspection can be positively completed, in a cost-effective manner.
Facilitate and monitor the remote assessment of a vessel for PSC and 3rd party inspections, where physical attendance cannot be undertaken.
Update and maintain requisite inspection (SIRE/CDI /PSC/3rd party screening) records and database in line with TMSA.
Assist in root cause analysis and close out of observations accorded in all 3rd party inspections (SIRE/CDI/ PSC/P&I/Terminal/safety inspections) in line with TMSA.
Maintain adequate records to demonstrate effective closure of all observations accorded during 3rd party inspections.
Assist in compiling and maintaining Fleet vetting data within Oceanfile, required for generating reports, assessing trends, and use analysed data to improve performance.
Monitor and track SIRE performance for each vessel and provide requisite guidance upon thorough assessment to improve future performance.
Circulate vetting broadcast and safety bulletin providing requisite guidance to the fleet to improve Fleet vetting performance.
Assist with reviewing upcoming industry-specific regulatory or recommended changes and propose requisite changes to QMS and ensure effective implementation and compliance.
Maintain records for Q88, VPQ, CDI, and necessary documents required for vessel’s screening.
Collect data and review the vessel’s compliance with Oil major requirements.
Review/monitor tanker fleet performance on Right Ship portal and provide requisite/closeout documents, where necessary.
Participate in inter-departmental and fleet review meetings (where required).
Vessel attendance as required when vessel calls at UK or Northern Europe Ports.
Skills Profile Ex-sea going Senior Officer / Engineer on Tankers (Chief Officer, Chief Engineer or Captain), with a minimum of 1 years' shore-based experience in a similar role within a ship management company.
OR Shipping background (Junior Officer) with a minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role within a ship management company.
In-depth previous experience of carrying out the shore-based day-to-day Vetting & Marine Assurance in Tanker Management.
Demonstrated knowledge of international legislation, and industry standards, codes, and guidelines.
Demonstrated knowledge of Oil Majors vetting process and requirements and industry best practice.
Commercial awareness and the ability to apply sound commercial judgement.
Highly effective at building and sustaining relationships at multiple levels throughout a global organisation.
Comfortable operating in a multicultural environment.
High level of analytical skills and strategic thinking ability to support decisions with sound reasoning and judgement.
Strong focus on delivering quality and meeting deadlines.
Successful track record in dealing with a broad set of activities within a fast-paced environment, whilst managing pressure well.
